about

Trench is proud to present Landown Vol.1, the first release on t r n c h .
A ten-track compilation comprised entirely of Australian artists who represent the rebellious, genre-defying ethos of the party, the release covers everything from meditative ambient to slamming techno. Active since 2013 in both Sydney and Melbourne, Trench has always placed a strong focus on supporting local DJs at our events, and now that mission statement extends to highlighting the amazing Australian producers writing original music.

Opening with Static Animation, a warm, enveloping soundscape from Neocortex, Drexciya-inspired tones and bass stabs then take centre stage on Drox’s Belt Driver, before the aptly named Limbo by Simon Mann takes things into the murky depths. The spacious, stripped-down vibes continue thanks to Eastern Distributor’s techy garage workout Forest Spirit and the seething, caustic, acid house jam [Square Peg] (Round Hole) from Scatterbrain.

Our taste for leftfield, sonically dense techno is satiated with Enclave’s Spy Vocal and Low Roof (Edit) by Luke Killien, which both infuse experimental sound design with stomping low-end grooves. The mood takes a lighter turn when Organic Process - Open Mind confidently grabs our attention with its lush Detroit strings, warm bassline, and funky percussion. The melodic vibes continue with Infinity from End User License Agreement, a techno cut which is equal parts stomping and uplifting. Finally, Rave City Council brings it all home with an absolutely brutal drum workout in the form of Heimat, a melting pot of breakbeat, hardcore, and IDM influences with some seriously heavy sub bass.

Landown Vol.1 truly reflects every facet of the diverse sound associated with Trench parties, and best of all: it’s 100% local.

All proceeds from this compilation are going to the “Hayastan All Armenian Fund” an humanitarian organisation with development programs supporting hundreds of thousands of displaced people over disputed territory in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
